Deedie Rose, who lives in a home designed by Antoine Predock, introduced Rem Koolhaas, an architect and Pritzker Prize recipient, who was retained to design the theater in the downtown Arts District.

Frances Osborne Speaks at Burberry at NorthPark

Talented British author Frances Osborne discussed her best-selling book The Bolter with The Fashionistas, a group founded by Heidi Dillon.  She is also the wife of the next British exchequer and daughter of a Lord who was finance minister under Margaret Thatcher.  We had dinner with her at Fearing’s at the Ritz Carlton downtown where she was quite impressed with the raw buffalo and quail courses.

Architect Gary Cunningham Discusses Cathedral of Hope at Museum Tower

Architect Gary Cunningham talked about his conversations with Philip Johnson who he collaborated with on the Cathedral of Hope.  The sales office of the Museum Tower located downtown accommodated an enthusiastic audience, including Mary Cook who lives in Preston Hollow and chairs the Trinity Trust.

Lunch in Fort Worth with General Tommy Franks

We left our Dallas neighborhoods and travelled to Fort Worth’s Omni Hotel to sit with General Tommy Franks at a lunch and then hear him speak  The thoughtfulness and insight of General Franks was quite impressive.  He represents an entirely different type of military leader than a generation ago.

Juan Williams at Small Reception at Park City Club in Preston Center

Juan Williams was even more engaging in person than on NPR.  He made a very interesting comment on the difference in discussing issues with liberals and conservatives.  He said conservatives attack his ideas when they disagree with him, liberals attacks him personally when they disagree with him.
